History on Chevrolet
Chevrolet was founded y Louis Chevrolet and GM founder William C Durant in November 1911. General Motors produce the Chevrolet brand. Chevrolet was positioned by Alfred Sloan to sell a range of mainstream vehicles to compete against Ford’s Model T.
There were a few disagreements between the two directors, Louis Chevrolet and William C Durant over a design and in 1915 Louis Chevrolet sold his share of the company to William C Durant. When 1916 came around Louis allowed Durant to purchase a controlling interest share into General Motors. Durant became president of GM and then Chevrolet was merged into GM as a separate division of the brand.
Chevrolet had many outlets across the world, selling their cars all over the world at numerous places. USA and Canada, Mexico, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Middle East, Pakistan and South Korea just to name a few.
The Chevrolet brand division is recovering from the downturn of the economy of the 2007-2010. After sales of the GM vehicles dropped and the US Government took a step back and bailed out of the company. GM decided that the way to get out of the downturn was to produce more fuel efficient cars and trucks to be able to compete with the other foreign automakers such as the Toyota and Honda Brands. Sales grew with more new cars being produced including the Cruze and Volt, with redesign models of the Equinox and the Malibu.
In 2010 production of a electrical car was being rolled out to car dealers, the electrical Volt which became the 2012 North American Car of the Year and also the World Green Car of the Year.
