History on Ford

Ford Motor Company is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. Originally founded in 1903 by Henry Ford it went on to become the largest family- controlled company in the world. It has been in continuous family control for over 100 years.

Ford was one of the first companies to develop all the techniques of the assembly line and mass production, this lead to the first moving production line reducing car construction time down by 90%. Due to the mundane repetitive nature of the work worker turnover was high.

This caused problems such as having to constantly train a new workforce which is very costly. This problem was dealt with by cutting workers hours and raising pay by considerable amounts. By 1925 Ford had expanded to Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland and South Africa.

Ford was the only car manufacturer to be named in the 2010 Worlds Most Ethical Companies top 100 list by the Ethispere Institute. Ford is committed to sustainability developing flexi fuel, hybrid petrol and hydrogen-powered cars.

Used fords use “Ford ECOnetic Technology” which is a customer driven initiative aimed lowering CO2 emissions and creating better fuel economies without compromising design or performance.
