Performance Focus: RaceChip

Have you ever wondered why models produced by the same manufacturer with the same engine size and type have different power outputs? The difference is in the engine management software or map. The hardware is the same – it’s the software that makes the difference.

Electronic tuning or remapping works using the same principle. Remapping the software allows you to make the most of the power reserves in your engine, increasing power output and torque. Even high-performance engines can benefit

Smart engine optimisation using a RaceChip can tap into these reserves to give you a whole new driving experience in your own car.

How does it work?

Nowadays, car manufacturers build just a few base engines and differentiate the power output via the electronic control unit: the same hardware, but with different software. Once the RaceChip software – the chip – is installed in your car the data from your car’s ECU is read by the RaceChip tuning software and individually optimised, offering a potential performance upgrade of up to 30%. The installed RaceChip uses only the available power reserves and stays within tolerances, which are important to maintain your engine’s long-term endurance. Existing engine protection systems remain fully intact.

RaceChip is a plug & play device which can be quickly installed by our service team. Additionally, your vehicle can easily be returned to its original factory settings.

Nick Heidfeld explains how RaceChip works – in German… (with subtitles).

Access your car’s power reserves

RaceChip tuning provides more power, greater torque, superb mid-range punch, stronger acceleration and quicker response, and RaceChip doesn’t simply turn everything to the max – it optimises intelligently within your engine’s design limits.

Improved fuel economy

RaceChip can also improve your fuel economy by up to 20% if you are driving with economy rather than performance in mind.

RaceChip App

RaceChip offer an optional smart phone App which connects to your vehicle via Bluetooth. This allows you to customise the performance of your vehicle as well as allowing you to access performance data.
